Savings Galore at City Car Auctions
Opportunities can be found around every corner at government auctions of all shapes and sizes. If you don’t want to be faced with excessive bidding competition and are looking for quality vehicles at bargain prices, city public auto auctions are the way to go. This really should be an essential element in your strategy of finding great deals at auto auctions at different institutions.
Federal and State auction events are huge and frequent. Cities not so much as they are much smaller in size. It has its advantages. There are way less official procedures involved with the announcement and management of city auctions. Cities have their own guideline, but the auctions are generally held around 5 times a year.
Around the country, Cities are ‘waking up’ to the digital revolution and increasingly hold auctions online. Of course this results in a more simplified bidding procedure. Most cities don’t do this however, as they still prefer live outcry events.
It is the exception rather than the rule for city auto auctions to be exclusively for a small number of eligible bidders. To be eligibile you need to provide proof of identity and be at least 18 years old - even 21 years in some states. It’s considered a rare event when the city administration only allow registered dealers to participate and keep private bidders at bay.
In keeping with their objective of transparency and accessibility to everyone, the fee for entering the auction will be small. It can range anything from a few dollars to a maximum of $20. The fee wil be different from for example, Las vegas to Seattle and Houston.
City car auctions are renowned for being relaxed and less organised than state and federal occasions. On occassion the event will be outsourced to a dedicated auctioneering company, and other times it will be done in-house. The same rules apply however. Some call it the manual to success, which in essence is doing your research ‘homework’ and having an accurate assessment of the car’s value. Don’t become an exited bidder, keep to your maximum price and you will surely get a great deal.
